Cover Bell & Ross BR 05 chronograph with an integrated steel bracelet

Targeted at the urban gentleman, the new BR 05 chronograph makes for a handsome and functional wingman

In 2019, Bell & Ross unveiled its brand-new collection of watches, the BR05 series. It was well-received worldwide for its strong design language, which is very similar to that of the iconic BR01 and BR03 collections. Watches from the two collection were inspired by aircraft cockpit instruments and sported a round bezel framing a round dial inside a square case with rounded corners. Four prominent screws held the upper and lower parts of the case together. The BR05 looks and feels the same except that the rounded square is the shape of the bezel rather than the actual case body. Importantly, this small difference lends the watch a completely different look: less of the testosterone-laced military and aviation vibes, and more of a dressier touch for the modern urbanite.

This year, the watchmaker follows up on the success of the BR05 with a new chronograph version. Equipped with the self-winding calibre BR-CAL.301, it comes with either a navy blue or jet black dial with an integrated steel bracelet. It is also available with a blue or black rubber strap that gives the wearer an alternative option to suit his multi-faceted lifestyle.

Like its other BR 05 brethren, the new chronograph comes with an integrated steel bracelet—the case and bracelet are fused into one cohesive piece.

Bruno Belamich, Bell & Ross' co-founder and creative director: "This integration of case and bracelet is not only in line with the brand's visual identity, it also brings another dimension to the watch: the first link forms part of the case. This type of design harks back to the Seventies, and when transposed to Bell & Ross, it creates a result with a graphic style which is both striking and modern.”

And the case and bracelet are not the only integrated piece in the construction of the handsome watch. Its chronograph pushers, crown-guard and crown also form a single piece, which is seamlessly incorporated into the case.

In typical Bell & Ross aesthetics, the 42mm-wide case combines a circle within a square, two geometric shapes which form the brand identity. Despite the chronograph counters on the dial at 3 and 6 o'clock as well as a date window at 4 o'clock, legibility for the BR 05 chronograph is still top-notch. And with its applique numerals, indices and hands filled with Super-LumiNova, reading time at night is a cinch too.
