Who knew that Bell & Ross, a brand so closely associated with the world of aviation, is also a master at utilitarian underwater instruments?

Spurred by last year’s success of the BR03-92 Diver featuring the brand’s emblematic square case in steel, Bell & Ross introduces two new versions this year – in bronze and in blue. These watches were launched in Malaysia recently in Langkawi.

Diving helmets of the past and present inspire both watches. The bronze gets its cues from the cumbersome vintage helmet in copper and brass while the blue references the modern, and mercifully more lightweight, rendition.

Beautifully designed and solidly built, the BR03-92 is a professional dive watch with a self-winding movement and a water resistance of up to 300m. It is also fitted with a 60-minute unidirectional rotating bezel with a luminescent mark at ‘12’.

The indexes are coated with white SuperLuminova while the hour hand is in yellow. The latter fades away in dim conditions, allowing only the minute hand to shine; this hand serves as a crucial timing guide underwater.

The Diver Blue is crafted in steel with a blue dial and bezel with aluminum inserts. It is paired with a blue rubber strap.

The Diver Bronze, which is limited to 999 pieces, has a case and bezel in bronze, a material that gains a patina unique to the owner over time. As such, it is aptly matched with an aged leather strap for a complete vintage look.

Did you know: Bell & Ross holds the record for a wristwatch with the deepest water resistance. The Hydromax was created in 1997 and it boasted a resistance of up to 1,110 bars of pressure, which translates to a depth of 11,100m! A patented transparent oil that filled the case was responsible for this incredible feat.
