In this ‘Celebrating Your I Do’ wedding campaign special with Hilton Malaysia, here are four fundamentals to check off your list from day one for a smoother planning process

No two weddings are alike. However, the journey to wedding bells should start with nailing down certain fundamentals to ensure that the wedding of your dreams proceeds without a glitch, from setting a wedding budget to booking a venue, to planning your guest list and sending out the invitations. Getting the details right is crucial and that's why a little help from a professional planner or coordinator goes a long way.

To that end, we look at four wedding details you should get right from the start, as shared by Hilton Malaysia’s in-house wedding planners.

Choose your venue first, then your theme

From romantic beach ceremonies to glittering ballrooms in the city, the venue you choose will set the tone for the entire wedding, so it’s important to decide on this from the beginning. Knowing the size and flexibility of your venue will then help you decide on the theme more easily.

When deciding the wedding theme, keep in mind that less is sometimes more. Having a clearly defined theme or style is especially helpful for wedding planners to determine the colours, décor, entertainment and the banquet served on your special day.

Do the wedding banquet food tastings in advance

The next task is finding a menu to match your theme whilst appealing to a wide range of palates. This is one thing you shouldn't put off till the last minute. To ensure that your menu is perfectly curated and customised to your liking, be sure to complete your food tastings very much in advance, working with your chosen venue's chef to ensure that each course is a masterpiece.

Behind the most flawless wedding is a seasoned wedding planner who’s seen it all and done it all. Hiring the right wedding planner will help reduce your wedding to-do list considerably, especially in the days leading up to the big day. From table and seating arrangements to menu preparations, flowers and more, a good wedding planner will help bring all the little details together beautifully for your wedding day.

Tip: Though budget is a common source of stress for couples, Hilton works closely with clients to curate a customised experience based on the given budget.

It’s only normal to get caught up in the excitement of the wedding day. However, remember that the wedding is just the start. Planning a wedding should be memorable and fun, so don't forget to pause once in a while and see the big picture rather than fixate on that one day only.

Happy planning!
