What makes the pieces within the Respirer collection stand out is its unorthodox diamond setting, which sees the centre stone in an upright position instead of the usual common setting—a representation of those who wear the pieces to be still of heart, before rising up for action, according to the brand.
“To effectively express the spirit of mindfulness, we developed this technique of lifting the centre stone for a ‘standing’ diamond,” DeGem creative director Choong Jiayueh said.
The DeGem Respirer collection took an entire year to be conceptualised, designed, and finished by the brand’s master craftsmen. The laborious process yielded brilliant results, with pieces crafted in optimal proportions of fancy baguette, marquise and pear-shaped diamonds affixed at prime angles to produce a sparkling visual effect.
While the shining stars are the brilliant-cut diamonds themselves, DeGem also masterfully incorporates the use of 18-karat rose, white and yellow gold to further amplify the stunning features of the stones, balancing that with the sculptural inclines of metal frames around the diamonds to add finesse and character. For a final touch, select surfaces of the jewellery pieces are artfully satin-finished to elevate its luxurious look and feel.
