The lawyer-in-training takes on Singapore Tatler's challenge and wears the new HW Logo collection by Harry Winston for a week.

Ask any Shentonite the biggest challenge to dressing up for work and the answer will invariably be tied to variety. There are after all only that many ways to wearing a particular style or outfit. That was why Vanessa Ng took on Singapore Tatler's challenge—without much resistance, if we may add—when we offered a plausible style solution in the form of the new HW Logo collection by Harry Winston. Of course, it helps that the lawyer-in-training likes how jewellery lends any ensemble an additional dimension. "No matter what outfit I’m decked in, I like how adding jewellery tells a story," she says.

After a week, Vanessa is convinced that the fine jewellery collection, which consists of rings, bracelets, pendants, sautoirs, and earrings, should be the de rigeuer accoutrements every career woman should own. She has three style tips to share with women to maximise and amplify the effects the collection boasts.

1. For work, I'd go for pieces made of the same material. In this case, white gold suits my look—I'm in a white blouse and slim-cut pencil trousers—better. So I kept it simple by choosing only the HW Logo ring, bracelet and sautoir necklace.

2. To have more fun on the weekends, I'd recommend stacking the pieces up. My current obssession is to layer the bracelets—in various materials, no less. I like it that the HW Logo bracelets come with different amounts of diamonds. This gives fluidity and a more nuanced layered effect without me looking like a Christmas tree!

3. One more tip for work: I know many women don't like wearing watches because some timepieces look cumbersome and/or overly masculine. But a watch is practical and it does give extra panache to your work outfit. It does for me, at least. I found something dainty and feminine at Harry Winston and its case sports the same Harry Winston lozenge as the HW Logo collection. See what it does for me!
