Qeelin brings international appeal to its playful fusion of eastern symbolism and contemporary meaning

Renowned for its seamless blend of eastern culture and modern style, fine jewellery brand Qeelin has officially named South Korean singer and actress Yoona Lim as its brand ambassador. Lim needs no introduction for fans of K-pop or K-drama—the South Korean icon debuted in 2007 as a member of Girls’ Generation, which went on to become one of South Korea’s best-selling and most popular girl groups worldwide.

Shortly after, Lim kick-started her acting career in K-dramas such as You Are My Destiny (2008), a role that propelled her into acting superstardom, earning her the Best New Actress awards at the 23rd KBS Drama Awards and 45th Baeksang Arts Awards. Today, Lim is a familiar face on big and small screens, as well as an ambassador for a range of luxury brands and causes including Unicef and the Korea Tourism Organization.

In her debut photoshoot for the brand, she is seen modelling the iconic Qeelin Wulu collection, consisting of a pendant, an earring, a bangle and a ring. The Qeelin Wulu earring and ring sparkle in 18-karat white gold with pavé diamonds, while the delicate Qeelin Wulu bangle exudes warmth in a combination of 18-karat rose gold and red agate.

Designed by Qeelin founder Dennis Chan, the Wulu collection takes inspiration from Chinese symbolism and culture, and transforms these motifs into stylish, wearable designs. Originally a gourd used by Taoist monks in ancient China for food and medicine, the wulu is now a popular feng shui symbol that represents good health, prosperity, abundance and fortune. Its resemblance to the figure “8” further represents wealth and infinity, in a magical balance of lines and curves.

Intended both for special occasions and daily wear, Qeelin’s fine jewellery designs reflect a unique blend of eastern and western aesthetics; as showcased by Lim, the Wulu collection is a perfect illustration of how to infuse new life and contemporary meaning into eastern inspiration. Lim’s collaboration with Qeelin marks a new era for the jewellery house, as it shares its stories of ancient Eastern philosophy with the world.
