Why Lady Gaga Wore A Schiaparelli Gold Brooch To The Inauguration
Many mused over Gaga's The Hunger Games-inspired outfit, from her floor-length red Schiaparelli gown—which Gaga described as a "love letter" to the US and her long-sleeved black top with matching black leather gloves. But the talk of the town was her Schiaparelli gold dove brooch.
And while comparisons and speculations were made between Gaga's brooch and Katniss Everdeen's Mockingjay pin from the movies and books, the award-winning singer took to Twitter to share the real meaning behind her eye-catching accessory.
"A dove carrying an olive branch. May we all make peace with each other," wrote Gaga on Twitter.
The gold dove brooch complemented her golden microphone when she sang The Star-Spangled Banner, shortly before President Biden and Vice President Harris took their oaths of office.
During her rehearsal from the U.S. Capitol, the singer also sent out a message of peace which comes full circle with her gold dove brooch on the day of the inauguration.
"I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans. A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance not fear. A day for dreaming of our future joy as a country. A dream that is non-violent, a dream that provides safety for our souls. Love, from the Capitol," Gaga wrote above a shot of her under the Capitol Rotunda.
