Bella Hadid Wows In Chopard’s Red Carpet High Jewellery At Cannes Film Festival 2021
The official partner of Cannes Film Festival since 1998, Chopard has released its annual Red Carpet collection of watches and high jewellery. This year, Chopard's co-president and artistic director Caroline Scheufele presents 74 paradise-themed masterpieces, drawing inspiration from real and imagined havens of fantasy, from the bountiful Garden of Eden and lush cinematic landscape of Pandora in James Cameron's film Avatar to the hidden island of Pantelleria off the coast of Italy.
“I wanted our creations to invite women on a journey towards a comforting haven, an imaginary world brimming with dreams and optimism,” says Scheufele. “There are various ways of envisaging one’s personal paradise and I have tried to give life to these multiple worlds within the Red Carpet Collection through creations honouring fauna, flora and the finest gemstones, as well as by designing jewellery that is part of the fantasy of movies.”
In this collection, the expert artisans at Chopard's atelier sculpt impeccable works of art from luxurious gemstones, including a bracelet that captures the colours of paradise, adorned with a bright assortment of garnets, tsavorites, lazulites and tourmalines with a crowning cabochon-cut 24-carat Spessartine garnet. These glamorous pieces are a celebration of creativity, craft and cinema.
And there is no better place to debut this collection than at Cannes Film Festival, which kicked off on July 6.
At the opening ceremony of the film festival, Chopard enlisted the help of some of the most talented stars to unveil the Red Carpet collection. Needless to say, they looked positively resplendent in Chopard's new high jewellery pieces.
American model Bella Hadid completed her black-and-white column dress by Jean Paul Gaultier with a pair of 18-karat white-gold earrings featuring exquisite pear-shaped diamonds totalling 18.05 carats, scalloped with a glistening outline of diamonds.
Italian and French singer-songwriter Carla Bruni wore a beautifully crafted bracelet that embellishes 18-karat white gold with aqua-hued Paraiba tourmalines and 40.39 carats of Padparadscha sapphires along with a wealth of opals and diamonds.
Globally-acclaimed actress, Jodie Foster attended the opening ceremony and screening of the highly-anticipated film, Annette, starring Marion Cotillard and Adam Driver, wearing a sumptuous pair of diamond earrings, featuring pear-shaped diamonds weighing a total of 22.01 carats. The actress, who made her first appearance at the prestigious film festival at only 13 years old for her role in Taxi Driver, will be receiving a lifetime achievement award.
Meanwhile, Jessica Chastain also makes another triumphant return to the Cannes Film Festival as the godmother of the Trophée Chopard, which is awarded to rising talents in international cinemas. It is a full-circle moment for the actress, whose breakout role in Terrence Malick's 2011 film, The Tree of Life—which won the highly-coveted Palme d'Or—launched her illustrious career.
This year, she will be following in the footsteps of other iconic stars, including Charlize Theron, Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore, Zhang Ziyi and Robert De Niro, who have all agreed to accompany the laureates on their path to success. Chastain will be presenting two up-and-coming film talents with the 20th edition of the Trophée Chopard on July 9, after which there will be a splendid evening event at the Hotel Majestic on the Croisette.
Chastain wore a dazzling ruby and diamond necklace from Chopard's Haute Joaillerie collection.
