Eschewing the convention that high jewellery needs to be “serious”, trust Hermès to go completely left field. It starts with how the maison labels its high jewellery creations. Instead of haute joaillerie, it refers to them as haute bijouterie, focusing on the design and craftsmanship.
This month, magpies in Singapore are in for a treat as Hermès brings its Lignes Sensibles haute bijouterie collection to our shores. Comprising 45 pieces, the collection goes against the grain of what one might consider high jewellery: armour‑like cuffs that are studded with rutilated quartz cabochons; the Hermès Réseau Lumière mono diamond earring (yes, one), which creeps along the ear before culminating in a drop; the Ondes Miroirs necklace that’s part choker, part sautoir, and inspired by an equestrian bridle, among others.
The collection will be displayed at Liat Towers, from July 29 to August 8. By appointment only.
