Gucci’s latest high jewellery collection provides the ideal gem-set accoutrements for the timeless movie icon

Allegoria is the fourth high jewellery collection from Gucci, whose stunning bejewelled creations have in the past adorned such Hollywood legends as Jessica Chastain, Salma Hayek Pinault, Diane Kruger and Sienna Miller. Now, in a rare appearance, icon of Hong Kong cinema Rosamund Kwan has been chosen to wear these gorgeous, glittering creations.

Kwan is renowned for her elegant, timeless fashion choices, on and off the red carpet, and for being an endlessly influential figure on the Asian style scene. In this exclusive photographic portfolio, the star of the beloved Once Upon a Time in China film series showcases a selection of pieces from the Gucci Allegoria high jewellery collection, which embodies the ever-evolving beauty of nature through the shifting seasons.

This collection features exquisite designs that highlight an array of precious stones in vibrant hues, evoking a sense of joy, with each piece painstakingly crafted by Gucci’s team of skilled artisans using time-honoured techniques. These 40 craftspeople are based in Milan and the picturesque Piedmont town of Valenza, which has the highest concentration of goldsmiths anywhere in Italy.

The seasonal odyssey of Gucci Allegoria starts in spring, celebrating the gentle awakening of nature. Fresh, lively designs mirror the colours of blossoms found in Gucci’s iconic Flora motif. A stunning 226-carat green tourmaline necklace is decorated with star motifs and baguette diamonds, while a 161-carat pink tourmaline necklace boasts a chain adorned with 72 fancy tourmalines.

Summer, meanwhile, explodes with vivid pops of saturated colour, introduced via emeralds, spinels and Paraiba tourmalines. Gucci showcases its creativity and expertise with daring cuts and combinations, while reflecting the optimism and vibrancy of summer.

Autumn brings a gentle transition, featuring warm, muted tones redolent of falling leaves in yellow sapphires, pink tourmalines and mandarin garnets. A 78-carat yellow sapphire necklace and vintage-style yellow gold bracelet are among the highlights of this seasonal series.

With winter comes the quiet beauty of snow and the joy of the festive season. An opulent 92-carat opal necklace captures the winter mood, while pieces embellished with unique European-cut antique diamonds add a celebratory flourish. Treasured for their vintage appeal and individuality, European-cut diamonds were first popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and are closely associated with the art deco era. It’s one of the early predecessors of the modern round brilliant-cut diamond, today’s most popular diamond cut, and Gucci’s use of the European cut demonstrates the house’s reverence for historical styling—remixed and reinterpreted for the modern day and the contemporary woman.
