The collection inspired by Christian Dior's superstition hits the right spots for modern women

It is hard to dispute this: the Dior Rose des Vents is a cute, whimsical and highly wearable collection of fine jewellery pieces. You can wear it on its own or stack together to make a fashion statement—the possibilities are endless.

But do you know the collection was born out of Monsieur Christian Dior's superstitions?

The wind rose, an eight-pointed star used in sea travel, was one of his many lucky symbols. He swore by it and often carried it along with him. Inspired by that, Dior Joaillerie creative director Victoire de Castellane designed the wind rose as a medallion with one side showcasing a hard stone and the other the star. To give the small medallion texture, the craftsmen encircle it with tiny rice-shaped gold grains—this gives the luxury giant the possibility of expanding the Rose des Vents collection into one that comprises necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

The collection is crafted in rose, yellow or white gold and features colourful lacquered ceramic or hard stones, which include malachite, mother-of-pearl, onyx and lapis lazuli.

With so many options and it scoring high on versatility, it's really hard to say no to the Dior Rose des Vents. We're sold—and you should be too.
