For the fourth and final episode of our podcast series with Tiffany & Co., we speak to the mother-daughter duo on the sparklers they share a great love for, which represent pieces of their family history
Giving and getting jewellery is a beautiful gesture, but the meaning of a piece becomes so much more valuable when it’s shared with the one you love—especially so if it represents a piece of history, and is passed through the generations.
To discuss the importance and value of jewellery as family heirlooms, we invited mother and daughter duo, Astrie Ratner and Myla Ratner to join us for the fourth and final episode of our podcast series, Decoding Brilliance, in partnership with Tiffany & Co.
“When I was a child, I loved watching my mother get ready for events,” said Astrie, “what was most memorable for me was seeing her get decked out for traditional ceremonies—because that’s when I get to see all of the heirloom pieces. Each of them represent a piece of our family’s history, and these heirlooms will continue to tell those stories as they get passed down to me and my siblings, our children, and their children”.

A certified international youth and social etiquette consultant and founder of A–The Etiquette Consultancy, Astrie is a mom of three and has long been known for her gracious ways, just as much as her elegant sense of style—one that earned her a spot on Asia’s Most Stylish list this year. Her daughter Myla, who turned 12 this year, speaks fondly about dainty bijoux too: “One of my first jewellery pieces if a Tiffany Smile diamond necklace that my mom got me for my tenth birthday, and I wear this on really special occasions”. Similarly, one of Astrie’s first personal pieces of jewellery were acquired with her mother—pearl earrings bought on a family trip in Japan.
