There will be no lack of stars on the red carpet, and no lack of glamour on stage.
A decade of Swarovski Oscar stage decor
The launch isn't the only project the brand is focusing on for the awards ceremony — 2017 marks the 10th consecutive year that Swarovski has decorated the Oscars stage. A lesser known fact, the company has provided over a million Swarovski crystals for the stage since 2007, and will outdo itself for this anniversary year, offering over 300,000 crystals for the event.
This is the fifth consecutive year production designer Derek McLane has been tasked to create stage decor for the prestigious award ceremony. In an exclusive interview with Architectural Digest, McLane explained “our inspiration is Art Deco and Hollywood Regency,” paying homage to the era of movies and glamour.

In perfect unison with the stage decor theme, Atelier Swarovski Fine Jewellery Collection will feature cocktail rings, earrings, a necklace and other accessories with contemporary art deco style details—a running theme throughout the series. Handcrafted in Paris, the pieces will feature both dazzling diamonds and mesmerising crystals. They will then go on show at further red carpet events around the world, before a commercial version launches in 2018.
Going green and spreading the message of sustainability
Reflecting the group's "craftsmanship, innovation and commitment to responsible practices," the collection will be unveiled this week at the 89th Academy Awards, as part of the "Red Carpet Green Dress" initiative.
Earlier this year, Atelier Swarovski was named a Certified Member of the Responsible Jewellery Council, joining over 900 other brands working to better improve the standards and ethics in the jewellery supply chain.
“It is so exciting to be partnering with Atelier Swarovski for our Red Carpet Green Dress campaign this year and have such strong women like Emma Roberts and Priyanka Bose stand behind us. We have the scope for massive global impact and together can help spread the important message of sustainability,” said Suzy Amis Cameron, founder of the initiative.
