The online auction will run from July 3 to July 13 with proceeds going to support healthcare workers fighting the coronavirus

An online auction of three stunning jewellery pieces, specially created by Anna Hu, will be taking place next month to help raise funds to support the healthcare workers fighting Covid-19. Taking place on Christie’s online auction rooms from July 3 to July 13, the pieces will be sold by Diamonds That Care, the newly launched social responsibility initiative of Alrosa, the world’s largest diamond mining company.

The pieces for the auction have been exclusively designed by Anna Hu using rich brown diamonds extracted by Alrosa in Yakutia, a region in the Siberian Far East. Speaking of the charity project, Hu commented “The world needs positivity, empathy, a sense of support, care and love. I hope to express all these feelings in my three pieces of jewellery. I was inspired and grateful to have received the opportunity to work on something larger than simply beautiful jewellery, something meaningful and with heart”.

The classical musician-turned-jewellery-artist is renowned for designing exceptional high jewellery pieces, creating striking modern yet timeless collections.

Speaking of the auction, Christie’s Jewellery Specialist Max Fawcett states "Anna Hu’s works are characterised by elegant forms and colour combinations. They are rarely sold at auction and when her pieces come to the secondary market, demand is high. As an artisan jeweler, Anna produces no more than thirty pieces a year, each a unique creation. Her involvement will create international excitement and we are pleased to offer our leading online platform and engage with our international clients to bid for this worthy cause.”

The three pieces of jewellery included in the auction will include an 18k white gold and 18k red gold necklace featuring a fancy brown-yellow diamond weighing 27.02 carats; an 18k red gold ring featuring a faint brown diamond weighing 1.59 carats; and a pair of earrings made of 18k white gold and 18k red gold, with each earring featuring a pear shaped 3 carat diamond.
