The posh new Mercedes S-Class Sedan was designed to appeal to all the senses while offering a quality ride for both driver and passengers

Mercedes-Benz unveiled its latest S-Class luxury sedan on Wednesday, which is widely considered to be the world's best-selling luxury sedan––and the German automaker’s most important model to date.

The highly anticipated S-Class model was created to have a feel-good ambience with a focus on elegance, high quality design, and airiness in order to foster a sense of calm and relaxation from the driver’s seat to the back passenger’s seat. The dashboard, for example, features a new ergonomic display arrangement, while the body of the vehicle was designed to offer low noise levels and an overall improved quality ride.

“Luxury today is defined by comprehensive refinement. A luxurious driving experience depends on a host of factors and must appeal to all the senses,” explained Dirk Fetzer, Head of S-Class product management in a press release. “Traditionally, this also includes almost silent travel. However, this also includes making life easier for the customer, for example because intuitive operation and comprehensive connectivity save a great deal of time.”

The redesigned flagship vehicle will also feature a handful of new and rather whimsical features, including an augmented reality windshield, a voice assistant that responds to the greeting, “Hey Mercedes,” and massaging seat capabilities that can be customised for driver and passenger comfort.

“The new S-Class reinforces our claim to produce the best automobile in the world,” added Markus Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG and Mercedes-Benz Cars COO. “This is where covetable luxury meets the greatest possible safety and highest level of comfort.”

Deliveries of the new S-Class Sedan are set to begin as soon as early 2021 and while the German marque’s latest release did not list price information, the preceding example started at US$94,000 for a base model. For more information be sure to visit the official Mercedes-Benz website.
