The latest Mini Countryman boasts a refreshed sporty design and a host of improvements geared to make your drive smooth and safe.

BMW Group Malaysia has released the new 2021 Mini Countryman that features a fresh new look. The crossover vehicle will come in two variants: Cooper S and the Cooper SE.

The Countryman served as the British automaker’s biggest and most versatile model. As the first model with an exterior length of more than four metres, four doors, a large tailgate and five seats and all-wheel drive, the crossover has laid the foundations for the brand’s advancement into the premium compact segment.

A fresh, sharper look

The facelift adds a new front and rear bumper for extra ruggedness. The LED headlights have also been redesigned with square reflectors. You also get full perimeter daytime running lights and indicators. Even the LED taillights feature Mini’s iconic Union Jack design.

The new Countryman variants are available in six colours—Chili Red, White Silver, Island Blue, Thunder Grey, British Racing Green as well as the all-new Sage Green, a captivating hue inspired by nature.

Step inside the Countryman and you will be treated to a stylish yet sporty interior amplified by carbon black leather cross punch upholstery, illuminated shaded silver trim, satellite grey headlining, and a Walknappa leather steering wheel, all of which are standard features.

Drivers will also be treated to a new 5-inch digital instrument display complemented with a larger 8.8-inch central touchscreen display that lets drivers access the vehicle’s infotainment system. In addition, the in-car entertainment system is enhanced with a 12-speaker Harmon Kardon HiFi speaker system.

Both models come with a number of add-on features that make driving more enjoyable, including keyless entry. A cool toggle-switch turns on the engine. Power-adjustable front seats have your favourite setting in memory.

If your smartphone is running low on power, the Countryman comes with a Qi wireless charger to charge your device. In addition, iPhone users can also take advantage of wireless Apple CarPlay to access their music and navigation information.

One of the biggest changes in the Countryman is the inclusion of Mini’s Driving Assistant system. Available for both variants, the camera-based driving system offers autonomous emergency braking along with other features such as pedestrian detection and automatic high beam. 

The Countryman comes with a total of six airbags to keep you and your loved ones safe. In addition, front and rear parking sensors help alert drivers if they are too close to an object. There is even a reverse camera to help you navigate into tight parking spaces.

Powerful but fuel efficient

Under the hood, both variants of the Countryman feature powerful engines. At the heart of the Cooper S is a 2-litre Mini TwinPower Turbo engine that is paired with a 7-speed Dual clutch Sports Automatic Transmission. It hits a top speed of 226km/h and go from 0-100km/h in just 7.5 seconds.

The Cooper SE variant is a plug-in hybrid powered by a 1.5-litre Mini TwinPower Turbo engine and an electric motor. Together, the engines deliver a top speed of 194km/h and allow the vehicle to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 6.8 seconds. Fuel efficiency is achieved via the 10kWh high-voltage lithium battery that delivers a maximum electrically powered distance of 48km. 

The battery takes approximately five hours @2.3kW to achieve a full charge. Alternatively, charge at one of over 300 public charging facilities across the country, the typical charging time from 0 - 100% is approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes @ 3.7kW.
