The BMW M850i xDrive Gran Coupe, meanwhile, ups the ante as the 4.4 litre V8 powerhouse unleashes 530hp of power and peak torque of 750 Nm that will get you from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.9 heart-pulsating seconds.

Through the BMW Touch Command unit, rear passengers can change the lighting in the cabin, regulate air conditioning and adjust other features with just a few taps on the removable, 7-inch tablet.

The newest and largest of BMW’s Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) is designed for urban adventurers who seek the holy grail of power, space, advanced technology, safety and comfort unparalleled in a vehicle in its segment.  

The latest generation of the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system is powered by BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology, with the BMW X7 xDrive40i delivering 340hp of power and 450Nm of torque, with power channelled through an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission.

A nifty feature for an SAV is when the X7’s sport driving mode is engaged or when the car’s speed exceeds 120 km/h—the intelligent vehicle automatically lowers its ride height by 10mm.

To adjust the body’s ground clearance, just push a button in the cockpit to raise the car in two stages to a maximum 40mm above the standard setting. Another button in the luggage compartment activates a loading mode that lowers the car by 40mm. 

Space is something the X7 has in spades, seating up to seven passengers in the Design Pure Excellence model currently available in Singapore, while the special Launch Edition seats six.

Rare in other three-row vehicles is a level of comfort that only the BMW X7 affords every passenger; two captain’s chairs in the second row (in the Launch Edition) while the sense of spaciousness is amplified by an electrically-operated panoramic glass roof, which lets light flood into the interior.

On the Launch Edition, the panoramic glass roof Sky Lounge generates an exclusive aura when darkness falls, with LED light illuminating more than 15,000 graphic patterns across the glass, reminiscent of a starlit sky.

The X7 takes the notion of individuality further with its five-zone climate control system that allows passengers in the second and third rows to also control ambient settings, including their choice of scent with the Ambient Air package, for utmost comfort.

Throw in a centre console that keeps drinks warm or cool, together with wireless charging for your personal devices, and kids will be kept happy in this SAV, no matter their age.
