Cover The 7th Generation Lexus ES

Lexus delivers the latest iteration of its executive sedan, the captivating and remarkable Lexus ES.

Here are among the reasons why the all-new Lexus ES should be the next car you own.

EStablished Presence

Ever since the brand was founded in 1989, the ES model line has been part of the luxury carmaker's illustrious history. Being one of the first two models that were produced by Lexus, the ES has evolved tremendously in terms of quality and refinement to become an ownership experience that will set industry benchmarks. It is after all Lexus' most popular sedan, with over 2.3 million units having been sold over the past 30 years. The 2019 model continues the luxury brand's new design which is more edgy and daring, on top of already being renowned for its level of comfort, safety as well as driving performance. Basically, you'll be investing in a car with a proven track record which has kept building on its strengths and delivering the best driving experience.

EScalated Design

As mentioned earlier, the design of the all-new Lexus ES is remarkably dynamic, edgy and daring - truly a much welcome change from the previous generation models. In what the brand terms 'smart sportiness' the exterior sports a rearward sloping roofline that gives a coupe-like profile with more efficient aerodynamics. Then at the front, the Lexus spindle grille, which has come to be admired by many, immediately identifies the brand and gives the sedan an elegant yet sharp and graceful appearance. Both head- and taillamps feature the signature L shape, which is also another dashing identifier.

However, the smart and captivating design details don't only end on the outside; get ready to be wowed when you enter the cabin as well. Going to the theme of 'provocative elegance,' the all-new Lexus ES is sleek and employs the the Japanese omotenashi hospitality that defines current Lexus models. Therefore, occupants get to enjoy more open, spacious, calm and relaxing environment, while the driver enjoys the taking control of the driver-centric cockpit. The newly designed seats too offer an elevated level of comfort, as it provides the best combination of support no matter the size of the person.

ESteemed Performance

Looks aren't all that's great with the Lexus ES. As expected, the luxury carmaker has also enhanced and further developed the sedan in terms of driving performance as well. While it remains a front-wheel drive, like previous versions, the 2019 Lexus ES is powered with a newly developed 2.5-litre in-line 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 204 hp at 6,600 rpm and maximum torque of 247 Nm at 5,000 rpm. This translates to drivers truly getting to enjoy the thrill of the drive, and adding speed and acceleration when necessary, in case of a rush. Another upgrade is seen in the form of its 8-speed Direct Shift Automatic Transmission featuring AI Shift Control which uses a transmission algorithm that intelligently manages shifts according to the road speed and predicted driver intentions. This technology of course also complements the already astounding Drive Mode selection which allows for the personalisation of driving performance: Sport - which provides maximum performance; Eco - which is most fuel efficient; or Normal - a middle ground of the other two modes.

ESsentially Safe

When it comes to safety, Lexus has never been one to compromise, and this is seen through the class-leading quality of safety features packed into the all-new Lexus ES. Among the technology of the Lexus Safety System + that ensures your safety are its comprehensive Pre-Collision System which uses radar and cameras to detect vehicles or obstacles, the Lane Departure Alert complemented by the Lane Tracing Assist which helps keep the car from unintentionally moving outside a lane and the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go Function which is capable of low speed following from 30km/h and below.

While there is a host of safety features to protect you and your loved ones as passengers, Lexus goes the distance to also ensure the safety of others, outside of the vehicle. Take for example the AHS which not only turns the headlight high beams on and off automatically for the driver, but its 24 individual LED light array can adapt the light pattern to provide an enhanced illumination without dazzling preceding or oncoming vehicles. Or the reverse camera that now has a pedestrian detection feature, which will alert the driver so that caution will be taken while reversing, and none will get injured.
