In an effort to build a lower environmental impact in the region, Zalora has announced its achievements in sustainability just in time for Earth Day 2024

As Earth Month 2024 approaches, fashion and lifestyle e-commerce platform Zalora announced a brand new cause for celebration. According to a report from Global Fashion Group (GFG)’s People and Planet Positive Report, Zalora has made substantial breakthroughs in reducing its environmental footprint.

Zalora achieved its lower emission targets of more than three per cent across its markets. They also reduced their total non-renewable energy consumption levels in Southeast Asia by 12 per cent compared to the baseline year 2021.

“These accomplishments underscore our wavering commitment to driving positive change within the fashion industry,” said Arvind Devadasan, head of sustainability at Zalora Group.

Highlights include the successful introduction of electric motorcycle-driven and same-day bicycle-driven deliveries in the Kuala Lumpur and Indonesian markets, which enhanced delivery efficiency while reducing environmental impact. In Singapore, hybrid vehicles now handle ten per cent of all deliveries, while Zalora Hong Kong implemented walking deliveries.

Zalora is continuing to grow its selection of eco-friendly brands while minimising waste by launching sustainable packaging initiatives. This is part of GFG's overarching 2030 sustainable strategy. This programme is structured through three pillars: climate action, circularity and conscious consumption, and fair and ethical sourcing.

Devadasan relays, “Through collaborative efforts and innovative initiatives, we are not only reducing our environmental footprint but also inspiring meaningful action towards a more sustainable future. At Zalora, sustainability isn’t just a goal; it’s a fundamental part of who we are and what we stand for.”
