Y2K Enthusiasts Need the Devon Lee Carlson x Marc Jacobs Collaboration

It’s not every day that it’s Devon Lee Carlson’s birthday, but when it is, she drops a collaboration with Marc Jacobs

The It Girl of Instagram released her eight-piece capsule collection with Marc Jacobs last week for her 26th birthday. It’s full of totally iconic Y2K pieces that include a slip dress, slogan tees and of course, a super small handbag.

Carlson drew inspiration from Marc Jacobs spring/summer 2002 collection and referenced a lot of those colours, including hot pink, black, orange, and lime green. This bubbly palette aligns with her sweet but sexy aesthetic and complements the numerous iPhone cases she designs for her phone accessories company, Wildflower.

Versatility was important to Carlson, and she wanted to make sure that all the items were wearable for any circumstance. A clear example of this is the bag chain doubling up as a charm necklace, so buyers get two different accessories in one.

Another key aspect of the collection was the inclusion of her dog, Martin, in both the photo shoot and the designs. Marty, as Carlson affectionally calls him, features on the zip-up hoodie and sweatpants in a cute cartoon motif.

This is Carlson’s first time designing clothes, and she says she wants people to feel “happy, fun and flirty” and when wearing her pieces. She said, “I’m so excited to see how everyone styles the pieces. It’s what I’m most looking forward to.”
