One of Malaysia’s favourite princesses, Tunku Tun Aminah from Johor, joins hands with fashion designer Jovian Mandagie to produce a collection underlined by her personal style and favourite ladies.

The best way to sum up the Tunku Tun Aminah x Jovian collaboration is by proclaiming it a collection fit for a princess.

Conceptualised by a princess for the princess in you – the collaboration between Tunku Aminah and Jovian Mandagie, fresh from launching his creations with Lazada – has been ten years in the making.

“I have never collaborated with any local designers as I am a private person but when Jovian approached me, I thought why not. He is a very talented designer,” says the Johor princess at the exclusive preview of the collection in The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur recently.

Regal, timeless and immaculate, the collection is inspired by her elegant character and from the myriad of baju kebaya and baju kurung she has donned for royal and formal events.

“Another reason I decided to enter into this collaboration is because many people ask me where I get my traditional outfits from and it gets them curious about my personal style.”

The collection is a beautiful feast for the (fashion) senses. Featuring 21 designs that capture the quintessence of the princess’s personal style, each outfit is named after the ladies near and dear to her – mother, grandmother, aunts, cousins and close friends.

“My favourite piece in the collaboration is Aminah, a grey baju kurung with red beadings and songket fabric. Grey and red are two of my favourite colours and I love the delicate design of the outfit,” she explains.

She had her reservations prior to this collaboration because fashion is such an unpredictable business. “This foray into the fashion and designing world was something I promised myself I would do before I turn 30. Let’s just say that this collaboration came at the right time for both of us!”

The collection will be released on February 27 at DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru as well as on Zalora and JStore on March 2.
