Among the ready-to-wear clothing and accessories in Weekend Max Mara's new store is their latest offering presented in one of the most joyful retail spaces ever seen, complete with colourful striped wallpaper, supersized paper butterflies and sinuous handwriting plastered on the floor. The Flutterflies is a spring-summer 2021 capsule collection designed in collaboration with world-renowned American illustrator and pop artist, Donald Robertson.

Robertson is one of the many personalities—including former British Vogue director Lucinda Chambers, Sudanese supermodel Alek Wek, and Oscar-winning costume designer Gabriella Pescucci—who have teamed up with Weekend Max Mara to lend their discerning eye and distinctive styles to reinterpret the Italian fashion brand's house codes, as part of their Signature Capsule initiative.

Featuring lively prints of butterflies in vibrant hues, this iconic motif adoring the garments in this collection is a long-time favourite of both Robertson and Weekend Max Mara. Designed for the modern woman to enjoy the warmer weather of spring and summer, the silhouettes are as comfortable as they are stylish.

“It’s all very fun! Easy breezy. Or tongue-in-chic as I call it,” quips Robertson.

Fans of the artist will also delight in the gaffer tape-inspired detailing on the pieces in this collection, which is replicated in the store's decor. A trademark medium for Robertson throughout his career in art and fashion spanning three decades, the gaffer tape is reimagined as colourful cotton strips which accentuate the waist and necklines on dresses, shirts, and pencil skirts and trickle down into accessories, from sneakers to Weekend Max Mara's iconic Pasticcino Bag.
