Here's all the things that came across Tatler's social feeds over the weekend, from more Squid Game news to well, nothing at all

This fashion show set a new standard for collaborations

The online and offline worlds collided at the Balenciaga show over the weekend at Paris Fashion Week.

Instead of a traditional setup with models and clothes on a runway, attendees of the show were treated to a 10-minute episode of The Simpsons, featuring cartoon versions of the brand’s creative director Demna Gvasalia, and famous front row-guests including Anna Wintour, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

The episode saw popular characters invited to Paris to walk for the show: Waylon Smithers stunned in a red bodysuit dress, Bart Simpson skated down the runway, and Marge Simpson closed the show in a gorgeous gold gown.

The show that’s currently rated the number 1 series on Netflix around the world could have come out years ago: Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed that he wrote the script in 2009. Clearly the world wasn’t ready for such high-quality entertainment at the time because the concept was rejected by studios for more than 10 years.

In retrospect, it’s probably the best outcome for everyone: we’ve been able to binge the whole series in one go on Netflix, and given the global obsession with all things Korean, Hwang is getting the recognition he deserves and more.

Instagram, Facebook and Whatsapp went down and everyone panicked

Well, everyone in the Western hemisphere panicked. While most people in Asia were asleep, social media giants Instagram, Facebook and Whatsapp experienced a major outage. Facebook ended up turning to Twitter to update users of what was happening, and after six hours, they were able to get back online. That gave everyone plenty of time to make some quality memes.

Barack and Michelle Obama celebrated their 29th anniversary

Michella Obama posted the sweetest image on Twitter and Instagram in celebration of her marriage to Barack, hinting that she’s up to date with internet trends as the caption read “How it started vs How it’s going”.

Barack also shared photos on his own Instagram and penned a sweet caption about her, admiring the many hats she’s worn as a mother, lawyer, First Lady and “most importantly, my best friend”. Cue the tears.

Grimes confuses and delights while reading The Communist Manifesto in an elf costume

After splitting up with billionaire boyfriend Elon Musk in September, Grimes has done a 180 and turned to Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto. It was all done in jest, however, as the singer admitted she was “trolling” the paparazzi who had followed her to a shoot.

To get the most ridiculous headline possible, she wore a full-on fantasy outfit and posed on a street corner flipping through the book and, well, it worked.
