Next on Tiffany & Co’s collaboration slate? A limited-edition basketball designed by Daniel Arsham specially for the NBA All-Stars

As the NBA ushers in All-Star Weekend next week, American jeweller Tiffany & Co has released its second collaboration with artist Daniel Arsham that pays tribute to the sporting occasion.

In the highly teased collaboration, the jewellery brand and Arsham revealed a Tiffany Blue basketball embossed with the artist’s signature crystal diamond pattern. The elaborately designed basketball imitates the visual elements of crystallisation in its unique colour and texture, a distinct fusion of styles of the collaborators involved.

The Tiffany blue basketball will be available for purchase at the The Tiffany & Co x Arsham Studio Half Court pop up and at Tiffany & Co’s Woodmere store and will be priced at US$575.

The Tiffany & Co x Arsham Studio Half Court pop up is an experiential retail store which is set to open at The May in Cleveland. The experiential pop-up is also designed by Arsham as part of the collaboration. Fans will be able to shoot hoops on a custom half-court at the pop up and also view the revered Larry O’Brien trophy which was presented in 2016 to the Cavs. Commending athletic excellence with the finest standards of craftsmanship, the iconic trophy is another one of the fashion houses earliest involvements with the NBA—since 1977, the jewellery brand has designed the Larry O’Brien championship trophy for the NBA finals.

Best known for his ‘Future Relics’ series, in which he looks at common objects as archeological discoveries from a futuristic world, Arsham’s work has been praised by the likes of Pharrell Williams and Ronnie Fieg. Having played basketball in high school, the project is especially personal to Arsham. Currently the creative director of the Cavs, which is his hometown team, it is without doubt this project is one that is close to his heart.
