From April 8 to September 24, Dior takes you to the couturier’s childhood home for its 70th anniversary special.
Much is know about the charming and utterly form flattering Dior trademark designs. But what of Christian Dior, the man behind the brand?
From April 8 to September 24, 2017, in celebration of the couture house’s 70th anniversary , an exhibition entitled 'Christian Dior and Granville: The Source of the Legend' will be held for fashion enthusiasts to glimpse the formative years in his childhood home.
Christian Dior spent his early years in Villa Les Rhumbs, Granville, a clifftop, soft pink and grey stone façade building surrounded by an English Garden that he owes much of his inspiration to: “My style owes almost everything to its location and its architecture.”
The exhibition weaves through three levels of the villa and illuminate the atmosphere of that crucial era. Rooms showcase aspects of his personality; from his artistic fascination with Japanese exoticism, a love for Rococo decoration, a gourmand appetite for Normandy flavours, and the elegant outfits of his mother.
