Cover Chanel SS 2021 runway show

For spring-summer 2021, designer Virginie Viard celebrates lively styles and silhouettes with neon jeans, flowing dresses, tweed suits, and sequins

Held at Grand Palais in Paris, the Chanel spring-summer 2021 ready-to-wear collection evoked cinematic allure by celebrating actresses who have a relationship, both on and off-screen, with the House. Evoking the famed Hollywood sign, the Chanel name appeared in illuminated giant letters, serving as a spectacular backdrop for the models sashaying down the pristine white runway.

“This collection is a tribute to the muses of the House. Gabrielle Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld dressed so many actresses in films and in real life. I was thinking about them who make us dream so much. But without wanting to replicate. Without falling into a vintage citation. I wanted it to be very joyful, colourful, and very vibrant too," explained designer Virginie Viard.

The flowing dresses are deliberately unlined for maximum fluidity. These ethereal dresses are unfussy, capable of going from a sexy day look to a sultry evening ensemble without skipping a beat.

Bedazzling sequins are hand-embroidered on skirts, flare pants and jackets, a most fitting nod to Hollywood glamour.

6. Logo Mania

Make no mistake—being understated is back in the closet. After all, when it's a Chanel, the logos, when worn out and proud, do make a cool statement.
