There is no single formula for being stylish. From pared-back tailoring to maximalist colour, these 15 honourees from the Philippines know what they like and, more importantly, why they wear it

Style is rarely about following the rules. It might be a beautifully cut jacket, a pair of trainers with a suit, diamonds with casual clothes or one electric shoe breaking up an otherwise restrained look.

In the 25th anniversary issue of Tatler Philippines, Tatler Most Stylish celebrates 15 individuals whose wardrobes are as distinctive as their personalities. Formerly known as Asia’s Most Stylish, the list has been reintroduced under the Tatler Most Stylish name, bringing together a new generation of style references alongside established names.

This year’s cover honours 15 individuals, each with their own approach to getting dressed. Their answers suggest that good style has less to do with keeping up and more to do with knowing yourself.

Tessa Alindogan

Tailoring, restraint and one good surprise.

Tessa Alindogan dresses much as she designs: with a clear sense of proportion and very little excess. Her wardrobe leans towards sharp tailoring, clean lines and a restrained palette, but she rarely leaves a look entirely straight. A vivid shoe, an unexpected accessory or a distinctly feminine detail provides the interruption.

It is an instinct that extends to her work in interiors, too. Over time, she has become more interested in editing than adding, finding that restraint carries more impact when something memorable breaks it.

Bea Alonzo-Co

Timeless, effortless, confident.

Bea Alonzo-Co has moved from experimentation to discernment. Her twenties were a time for taking risks; these days, she is more interested in quality, tailoring and clothes that will stay in rotation.

The biggest change may be who she dresses for. “I no longer dress to impress anyone,” she says. “I dress for myself.” The result is a wardrobe that feels less concerned with the new and more with getting the right things right.

Michael Concepcion

Hard to pin down, deliberately so.

Michael Concepcion’s style is difficult to reduce to a single aesthetic, and perhaps that is the point. Working in retail keeps him surrounded by new labels, collections and ideas, so his interests are constantly shifting.

What catches his eye first, however, has remained remarkably consistent: material, construction and shape. The job has a way of following him home. “Brands become friends,” he says, and there is always something new to look at.

A little boheme, a little rock ’n’ roll, entirely her own.

Joey Mead King’s wardrobe can move from a suit with sneakers or sandals to a ‘90s rock T-shirt, jeans and boots, then straight into pambahay finished with diamond earrings.

A career spent in fashion taught her what works for her and, just as importantly, what does not. These days, she dresses according to the moment rather than trying to fit herself into one particular look.

Essential.

One word is enough for Angie Mead King: “essential”. Her wardrobe adapts to whatever the day requires, whether that means work or something altogether more casual.

There is no elaborate formula here, just an instinct for what suits the moment.

Sabina Gonzalez

Restrained, but never austere.

Clean lines, a little ‘90s, and always a good fit. Sabina Gonzalez likes her clothes neither swallowed by oversized proportions nor squeezed into something too small.

Her confidence in dressing herself has grown with time, as has her understanding of her body. Her references have become more varied, but there is one constant: she dresses according to her own eye rather than anyone else's.

Tweetie de Leon Gonzalez

Polished, easy and edited.

Tweetie de Leon Gonzalez has always believed in looking put together, from hair and clothes to the handbag and shoes. Her take on elevated casual is clean and easy, with a minimalist silhouette.

The wardrobe has loosened over the years. The short, tight-fitting pieces have largely made way for more relaxed proportions, but the polish remains firmly intact.

Niana Guerrero

Whatever the mood, keep the swag.

Niana Guerrero does not subscribe to a fixed uniform. The outfit depends on the mood and the destination, but there is always room for “a little swag”.

Her style has opened up as she has grown more willing to experiment with silhouettes and try things she might not have before. The clothes may change. The attitude does not.

Tati Miranda Fortuna

Elegant, with meaning behind it.

Tati Miranda Fortuna’s idea of timelessness goes beyond aesthetics. Her wardrobe has increasingly become a conscious choice, favouring pieces that are sustainably made, honour heritage and support artisans.

A beautiful object matters, but so does the story of how it came to be. Her style reflects both.

Rosanna Ocampo

More is more—and make it joyful.

Colour, prints and statement pieces have always had a place in Rosanna Ocampo’s wardrobe. Her style is joyfully maximalist, unapologetically feminine and made for a little celebration.

The intention behind it has shifted, though. She still loves to make an entrance, but increasingly dresses to express rather than impress. It is, she says, a much more liberating place to be.

Jae de Veyra Pickrell

Pared back, considered, with a touch of mischief.

Jae de Veyra Pickrell’s wardrobe brings together feminine classics, androgynous silhouettes and just enough playfulness to keep things interesting.

Running restaurants and becoming a parent have pared things back. Her shopping has become more deliberate, with quality, fit and repeat wear taking precedence. Her ultimate test: will she still want to wear it 10 or 20 years from now?

Alden Richards

Simple, clean, versatile.

Alden Richards has stayed remarkably consistent. His style is simple, clean and versatile, with timeless pieces that feel refined without giving up comfort.

What has changed is his confidence in choosing them. Rather than chasing whatever is trending, he now trusts pieces that feel closer to his own personality.

Santino Rosales

Classic, with a more relaxed fit.

Classic dressing has always been Santino Rosales’s starting point. The proportions, however, have had their moments.

After adjusting his fits as trends came and went, he has settled into relaxed and regular silhouettes. It is a quieter way of dressing, and one he expects to keep for the foreseeable future.

Kylie Verzosa

Feminine, polished, with room for fun.

Kylie Verzosa likes her clothes feminine and polished without becoming stiff, with a playful note to keep things from feeling too serious.

Her approach to shopping has also become more practical. Rather than buying for the moment, she looks for pieces she can see herself wearing repeatedly. The best additions to her wardrobe, it seems, are the ones that earn a second outing.

Tim Yap

Classic at heart, playful by choice.

Tim Yap’s style has always had a sense of occasion. Earlier in his career, fashion was often about making a statement. Now, the story behind the clothes matters more.

Working across media, events and entrepreneurship has sharpened his instinct for context: what the moment calls for, and how to make it feel personal. Trends may provide the vocabulary, but the point of view has to come from the wearer.
