Jetsetter and medical entrepreneur Suhina Singh hunts down versatile pieces to build her efficient, elegant capsule travel wardrobe at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands
“The eye has to travel”... that was one of the most famous bon mots of the late, great American editor, Diana Vreeland. Meant to encapsulate a journey of the imagination, this phrase implied that flipping through the pages of a magazine could transport the spirits either to the runways of Paris, or to the sun-kissed isles of the Mediterranean through the art of creativity and stylish storytelling.
This philosophy rings especially true for Suhina Singh—in more ways than one. She traipses the globe both literally and figuratively through style, spirituality and a sense of adventure, and most recently, embarked on a journey of self-discovery that has led to Singh’s psychological and physical healing: “This spiritual transformation has led me to let go of anxiety, societal conditioning and I no longer suffer from imposter syndrome; and my health has improved tremendously where I am no longer on biologics for my autoimmune condition”, she affirms. In the last year, her soul-reviving sojourns have taken her from Cambodia and Bhutan to Europe and South Africa, where she was born and studied medicine and surgery, and began as a general practitioner in Cape Town.
And as a medical doctor and healthcare techpreneur, the co-founder of online health tech platform Jonda Health also travels even more for work. “As a physician, I saw first-hand how fragmented health data can be, and how difficult it is for patients and healthcare providers to access and share information,” she explains, which led to develop the platform that filled that gap—Jonda Health—an online health tech platform that provides useable and accessible health date while respecting data sovereignty.
To arm her on her travels, the fashion fiend is unfailingly spotted in kaleidoscopic shades, and in a traffic-stopping collection of prints. Her love for fun fashion draws inspiration from her South African roots, but also strikes a balance between her always on-the-go cosmopolitan lifestyle and, well, luxurious voyages, around the world. “I love colour, and always look for pieces that speak of comfort, vibrancy and elegance…and also, adventure”, she enthuses. Lucky for her, and us, she can literally shop the world at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

Above Singh explores Gucci's spring-summer 2024 collection

Above Singh channels après ski in Moncler
On this special Tatler Singapore escapade at Marina Bay Sands, we took to the likes of Gucci, Moncler, Cartier and Versace, where Singh managed to tick every sartorial box on her list. To recharge one’s soul, she muses, requires “fresh new sights, sounds and experiences”, and no doubt her wardrobe should travel as beautifully as she does.
The first stop of the day saw Singh in the decadently appointed duplex of Gucci. Here, she discovered the pre-fall and spring-summer collections featuring a series of pastel-hued and denim jackets perfect to take a look from day to night—or hot to cold. “I work with a lot of layers, especially when travelling”, Singh says, reaching for lightweight separates that mix and match in a myriad of ways. “Building a wardrobe for daily styling is one thing, but when travelling, one has to come up with a capsule collection that’s an extra efficient extension of that. And bright colours are a great way to string them altogether”, she adds.

Getting the VIP treatment at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, all Singh needed to do was stretch her long legs on a private buggy, which chauffeured her to the next stop: Moncler, best known as an Italian house of luxury outerwear. Here, she tried on several outfits, from a classic white or bright red puffer with matching trousers, to a denim jacket and skirt combination matched with Trailgrip trainers, showcasing the versatility of their pieces that go from après ski to city.

At Versace, things got a little more playful—while outerwear remained a working theme to style her travel capsule wardrobe. This time she fed more into her business-meets-pleasure aesthetic, slipping into checked shirts and a sharp white suit that fit her tall, svelte physique like a glove. And the last stop was Cartier, because “sometimes you need a down jacket, other times you need diamonds”, agrees Singh. Panthère de Cartier was the collection of choice that afternoon, from which she adorned her wrists, fingers and décolleté with the iconic feline in its many scintillating forms.
With a trusty Rimowa luggage in hand to store everything in absolute security and style, Singh then traipsed into the sunset, literally onto her next stop—the airport, to catch a red-eye flight to South Africa.
