SoFA Design Institute officially opened its campus at The Proscenium, Rockwell, welcoming students and established creatives to a bold new chapter for the school

SoFA Design Institute, the Philippines’ leading design school, revealed its new campus in Rockwell’s The Proscenium. The space’s official unveiling was held last July 26, gathering together distinguished alumni and faculty, established creatives from various design calibres, and current students.

“We are thrilled to reveal our new campus, marking a significant milestone in Philippine design education,” says Amina Aranaz-Alunan, SoFA’s co-founder and president. Designed with entirely white walls and ample space, the area is meant to resemble a ‘blank canvas,’ symbolising growth and allowing a sense of freedom for students to explore their own creative alleys.

“We wanted to create a space that really allows students to look internally, discover their own design language, and define their own point of view as designers,” Aranaz-Alunan comments.

Current attendees of the school’s interior design programme were actually able to lend a hand in designing the campus, allowing them to create a space that reflects their own learning values. “We want everyone who walks in to draw inspiration from the displays and have the never-ending passion to conceptualise and design,” says interior design student Bernadette Raralio.

The campus includes a library, meeting rooms, classrooms, and design studios, as well as a sunlit collaboration space for exhibitions and other events.

“In a way, we were outgrowing our former campus, and we felt that we needed to upgrade the space and add more facilities. [From the beginning], Rockwell has always been very supportive of our school, and it really was sort of like second nature to move here,” says Aranaz-Alunan
