Drag Race Philippines’ Slaysian queens Brigiding, Khianna and Viñas Deluxe gave a quick explanation about their runway looks on episode six
If not the snatch game, the runway show was the highlight of this week’s Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale episode. And what luck, Tatler Philippines happened to be among the crowd during D’Intervention’s very own post-segment “untucked” [discussion] at Rampa Drag Club in Quezon City.
Queens Brigiding, Khianna and Viñas Deluxe are arguably in the strongest roster of artists in this episode. Their looks, which ranged from a witty rendition of the “Nuno sa Punso” [called “Nuno sa Feng Shui” in the show], the half-haunting, half-mesmerising lion and horned Sarangay made the audience gasp.

Viñas Deluxe’s jaw-dropping dwarf outfit seemed like the continuation of her earlier “Manananggal” [a flying woman with no torso in Philippine folklore]. Designed by Iji Montalbo, the queen describes the look as a fusion of Nuno sa Punso and the art of channeling good fortune.
“That was a continuation of my Snatch Game from last year, when I said, ‘magkakaroon ng nuno sa feng shui’ [there will be a nuno sa feng shui]! I had that in mind for a long time, I was just waiting for the right category to bring it in,” Viñas Deluxe tells the crowd.
“I am so happy my friends helped me bring it to life. I am grateful,” she adds.
Khianna dazzled in a look that was nothing short of mythical: a human head on her upper half, and a lion leg. Yet even the fiercest creatures face runway perils. As Drag Race fans know all too well, gowns can tear, seams can betray and accessories can snap just moments before the lights hit.
“Right before I stepped on stage, it actually snapped,” she confesses, proving that quick thinking is just as essential as a killer outfit.

Brigiding, for her part, showed up as the Sarangay, a powerful beast resembling a water buffalo (carabao) or bull, sometimes with a more human-like form.
From the get go, the artist shares she always wanted to embody a ‘creature with horns’ on the runway. “I wanted it dark, and that look went through so much because there were moments when I’d go to a designer and suddenly they couldn’t do it anymore.”
In the end, Brigiding ended up with a costume curated by different designers. “It ended up that with only about two weeks left, they said they couldn’t pull it off, so we just pushed through because we had to commit to the design. That look was a collaboration of four designers—one made the headpiece, another the horns, another the shoes and another the outfit and accessories to complete it.”
The drag queen admits that this was one of the hardest runway themes of the season. “That mythical creature was one of the most exciting looks, but also one of the most difficult,” she concludes.
