The local womenswear brand opens a second boutique space where art, and fashion intersect
A Peranakan shophouse nestled in Joo Chiat’s heritage district has undergone a meticulous transformation, creating a space that seamlessly merges fashion and art—Rye’s second outlet. The store is a physical embodiment of the brand’s collaborative spirit, mixing Peranakan heritage with modern design fixtures by present-day artisans from across the globe. “The team and I have conscientiously crafted this serene and inviting space in a quest to rediscover the brand's essence,” says Rye founder Bessie Ye.

A tactile journey awaits patrons of the store, the interior integrates rustic clay walls and natural stone floor tiles with polished metal shells. Primarily designed in-house, Ye drew inspiration from Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa, and filled the space with bespoke column racks that evoke a sense of sanctity.
The boutique’s thoughtful design is complete with artisanal features such as the ‘Jak and Ebony’ Sansoni print on the ottoman, a Tekiò horizontal lamp by Anthony Dickens, and a custom-made rug by local design studio Tanchen.
“It's a delicate balance of modernity and antiquity, where art, design, and fashion interlace, weaving a harmonious tapestry of beautiful ideas,” adds Ye. The store evokes a sense of nostalgia for Singapore’s coastal past while remaining sartorially forward, culminating in an extraordinary retail experience.
