LVMH has made a minority investment in the eponymous fashion label

Rumours have been circulating for years that Phoebe Philo will be making her highly-anticipated comeback. Now, it has just been confirmed that the British fashion designer is making a triumphant return to fashion with an eponymous label.

Business Of Fashion (BOF) broke the news on July 12 that the fashion designer will launch her own brand that will be partially backed by French conglomerate LVMH.

The former creative director of Céline left the house in December 2017, after its fall/winter 2018 collection.

“Working with Céline has been an exceptional experience for me these last 10 years,” said Philo back then in an official statement.

She had made a name for herself and had a large impact on women’s fashion during her tenure at the French fashion house, which is also owned by LVMH.

During her pivotal era at Céline, her designs were seen on some of the biggest names in the fashion scene including Sienna Miller, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Victoria Beckham, Rihanna—and even Kanye West, who wore the now-iconic printed silk shirt from her spring/summer 2011 collection at Coachella.

Philo successfully reshaped the French label by redefining womenswear for the modern woman with her perfect minimalist aesthetic. The one-time designer for Chloé also managed to push several Celine totes to reach ‘It’ bag status, from the Trapeze to the Luggage.

The designer was recently seen as part of the ANDAM Fashion Jury on July 1 but has otherwise kept a relatively low profile since leaving Céline.

But with the announcement of her new brand, it looks like it is only the beginning of a new era for Philo and how the bona fide designer will influence the post-Covid fashion industry.
