What do you do when you have to sing a soft pop song in the first minute and burst into dance the next? Versace had the answer—a three-in-one fuschia stunner that Grammy Award winner Dua Lipa sloughed like a sartorial snake, as she moved from Levitating to Don't Start Now. Dua Lipa won Best Pop Album at the star-studded affair last night.
The first layer consists of a voluminous duchess satin cape dotted with crystals in a degradé pattern. As the song progressed and Dua Lipa began to show off her signature moves, the cape gave way to a long blazer-dress underneath, entirely encrusted with Swarovski crystals, before finally revealing a bralette top with fuchsia Medusa studs and matching bottoms for Don't Start Now. Even the accompanying boots and mic stand were studded with pink crystals.
The inspiration? Future nostalgia, the title of her winning album, by infusing '60s silhouettes with a poppy, future-looking optimism.
The dancers were also dressed in Versace outfits covered with maxi-paillettes.
Dua Lipa's red carpet dress, also by Versace, was a fluid column covered in crystal mesh in fairy hues, complete with a butterfly bodice—a great hint at her stage costume that followed.
