In this collection, Sarah Burton reinvents masculine tailoring for the empowered woman, seamlessly blending the artistry of Givenchy couture heritage with a celebration of modern femininity
“To go forward, you have to go back to the beginning. To me, that’s about the atelier. It’s the heart and soul of Givenchy.”
- Sarah Burton
For the Givenchy FW25 collection, Sarah Burton draws inspiration from the rediscovered 1952 calico patterns of Hubert de Givenchy, found hidden in his original atelier. Starting from the imagery of the studio mannequin stamped ‘Givenchy 1952’, this symbolism is then echoed throughout the collection, not only stamped onto one of the collection’s garments itself but also woven into the details. Bangles, shoes, bags and accessories all carry the mark of the house’s origin.

Burton builds the collection from the body outward, blending precise and classic tailoring with fluid, feminine shapes. Echoing the spirit of the original fashion house, now stripped back to its raw elegance, the designer explores strength through softness, merging masculine techniques with feminine shape. The collection reimagines powerful femininity from a woman’s perspective, reshaping heritage with a focus of the female gaze. Essentially, integrating the craftsmanship of couture heritage with the innovative spirit of the future.

This collection confidently amplifies Sarah Burton’s vision of multi-generational womanhood, offering a thoughtful reimagining of ‘power dressing’ as something quiet, authentic, and non-performative. Rather than relying on overt statements, strength is conveyed through precision, restraint, and grace. The refined colour palette, anchored in classic black and white, with a striking injection of bright yellow, balances boldness with professionalism, underscoring a wardrobe designed for women of any demographic to feel empowered without compromise.
