The British musician has been unveiled as the new face of the Spanish label’s emotive and moody Autumn Winter 2015 campaign

Sam Smith, the English singer and songwriter who rose to fame after being featured on Disclosure’s ‘Latch’, has been unveiled as the new star of Balenciaga’s Autumn Winter 2015 campaign. The news signals the first time the blues singer and crooner has been featured in a major men’s fashion campaign. The evocative black and white photographs present Smith in a mysterious light with a reliance on movement and mood to convey emotion.

Wearing looks from Balenciaga’s anticipated Autumn Winter 2015 collection that takes inspiration from the purity of forms found in nature to create an austere, timeless aesthetic, Smith animates the modern shapes and mood of Balenciaga from within.

Creative director of the Spanish label is Alexander Wang who commented, “Beyond his tremendous talent, Sam Smith conveys a quiet elegance and a subtle sensuality that are perfect for Balenciaga,” he says, “He represents both sensitivity and power, the dualities of the Balenciaga man.”
