The Italian fashion house has joined forces with Sotheby’s to execute a charitable auction to benefit UNESCO educational projects across the globe

Prada and Sotheby’s have this week announced they will be collaborating to offer a charitable auction set to launch in October of this year.

The Prada x Sotheby’s Tools of Memory online partnership will celebrate the importance of design across art and fashion, while benefiting UNESCO projects for expanding education in vulnerable populations around the world.

“Clothes are objects of desire that remind us of emotion and experience, tools of memory of a precise moment within fashion and time, that on this occasion can help the future,” Prada said in a statement.

According to the Italian fashion house, the highly anticipated auction lot will focus on Prada’s F/W2020 campaign visuals from both the men’s and women’s runway shows, which “juxtapose backstage photography and precious artifacts, presented as in pages from an auction catalogue.”

The items on auction will showcase a handful of original pieces from the recent fashion show in Milan, including one-of-a-kind garments that were worn by models during each runway presentation, as well as photographic prints, show invitations, and elements of the runway décor.

Tools of Memory honours Miuccia Prada’s unique position within the house of Prada, in which she redefined the world of fashion through design, art, architecture and how we understand luxury today.” Sotheby’s said in a statement.

Bidding for this exciting lot will open on October 2, 2020, with a small selection of items going under the hammer already previewing on the official Sotheby’s website. Further details will be released as the opening date draws sooner, with the entire catalogue being unveiled in time for the launch.
