Following the news of Phoebe Philo’s fashion comeback, we take a look back at some of her most iconic looks for Celine

Fashion lovers rejoice! It’s officially confirmed that Phoebe Philo, the former creative director of Celine is making a return to the fashion world after a three-year hiatus. Philo will be launching an eponymous label and French luxury conglomerate LVMH is expected to back her brand as a minority stakeholder, allowing the fashion designer to retain control, govern and experiment on her own terms, according to an official statement.

While we’re excitedly waiting for Philo’s comeback and upcoming collections, let’s take a look at some of her best moments for the luxury fashion brand, Celine, including iconic jewellery and clothing designs, memorable catwalk moments and more.

Philo values comfort but never fails to add a sophisticated element to her designs. Case in point: the boxy twist sandal. This design was created during Philo's earlier years at the fashion house and has since evolved into various styles, all of which retain what made these shoes iconic: twist motifs and chunky structures.

The initial necklace has been a fashion staple since first gaining popularity in 2018 when Celine launched its gold-plated, bamboo-style alphabet pendants. Beloved by celebrities and fashion bloggers alike, alphabet necklaces first appeared in the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2017 collection and sold out everywhere during that time. If you’re one of the lucky ones who snagged that beautiful pendant, we envy you.

Are there any fashionistas out there that didn't buy the Celine box bag in 2011? This must-have accessory comes in different shades including burgundy, camel and black. This gold- or silver-clasped bag is considered a timeless classic that has an elegant feel thanks to its clean and rectangular silhouette. And, of course, we can't forget the other equally impressive styles that emerged during Philo’s era: luggage totes, as well as Celine's Trapeze and Trio bags all remain some of the most covetable designs today.

A roundup of Philo’s greatest hits at Celine would be remiss without bringing up the geometric mule. This shoe comes complete with a unique selection of geometric soles, such as silver spheres and gold-toned square hoops. The design caused a major stir during the Spring/Summer 2014 show. Aside from the furry sandals and glove shoes, this design was once at the top of every fashion lover’s wish list.
