The products for the new capsule feature Murakami's signature Flower Bomb and Smiling Flower designs alongside an exclusive bee character designed for the collaboration

After their successful collaboration on a limited-edition collection in May 2020, which was sold out in minutes, eco-friendly brand Pangaia and Japanese artist Takashi Murakami are joining forces once again to release another capsule.

This time, the collaboration is in partnership with MoMa Design Store, as part of New York City's iconic Museum of Modern Art. The MoMA Design Store has been at the forefront of design and innovation for decades, making it the perfect partner to unveil the new Pangaia x Murakami for MoMA collaboration.

Murakami is one of the most well-known contemporary Japanese artists and has three artworks in the museum collection. The aim of this new capsule is to celebrate the intersection of art and design while raising awareness on the importance of bee conservation through Pangaia's #BeeTheChange initiative. The role of bees is essential to our ecosystem as they pollinate 70 of around 100 crops species that feed 90 per cent of the world.

The products feature Murakami's signature Flower Bomb and Smiling Flower designs alongside a colourful bee character that was specially created for the collaboration. To align with Pangaia's philosophy of earth-friendly design and high-tech naturalism, the materials used include recycled and organic cotton, seaweed fibre and environmentally-friendly dyes.

The seaweed fibre is sourced from the parsley populated Icelandic Fjords in locations where there's zero waste in the water. Meanwhile, the dyes in the collection use a process with low water consumption and aim to reuse water during the washing process. The sizing are all gender-neutral and designed for a relaxed fit.

The Pangaia x Takashi Murakami collection is available at the MoMA Design Store.
