Onitsuka Tiger’s Autumn Winter 2025 collection is a brilliant tribute to its hometown
The stark contrast between Tokyo’s high-energy concrete jungles—Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Harajuku—and the tranquil atmosphere of its rural neighbours is a curious and interesting sight to behold. Despite their differences, these places still inevitably intersect. One only has to picture those in elegant robes or kimonos brushing elbows with the vibrantly clad inhabitants of the city. Onitsuka Tiger not only recognises this, but celebrates it. Their latest Autumn/Winter 2025 collection hit the runway of Milan Fashion Week, showcasing the profound relationship between past and present through the lens of the bustling metropolis.

Aptly named “Urban Duality,” this latest collection features pieces that fuses a diverse mixture of styles to suit any occasion. These contrasts prove to be its strength, as seen in the British country-style attire—for an effortlessly light and classic look—to its items with punk accents and flourishes for those with a rebellious streak. If you’re looking for outerwear to round out your daily look, their pea coats, suits, gorpcore jackets, and cardigans are unisex and come in a diverse set of sizes, textures, and materials, allowing you to dictate the tone and direction of your outfit.
Capture an air of femininity with their pleated skirts, blouses, and dresses with lace inserts—all made with delicate silk. One can simultaneously imbue these romantic traits with an outgoing energy by combining them with the collection’s hand-embroidered pullovers in Nordic patterns, jackets with corduroy collars, and Texan-style heeled boots. Added depth and silhouettes are made possible with cropped jackets and stylish cowboy-inspired motifs.

The collection’s focus remains prominent in their footwear, especially in their newly-introduced ballerina flats, adorned with studs and set with metal toes. Their classic Mexico 66, emblematic of the brand, has been reimagined with a sparkling aesthetic reminiscent of Eighties pop music. Many of these pieces feature the work of Andrea Pomilio, an Italian-born designer known for his prolific work with some of the world’s top brands.
Spotted amidst the audience of Milan Fashion Week were the Philippines’ very own Heart Evangelista, as well as Onitsuka global brand ambassador Momo of the K-pop group TWICE, Thai actor Gulf Kanawut, Korean actor Wi Hajun, Chinese actor Ziyi Wang, and Australian actress Phoebe Tonkin. This international array of attendees is proof of the far-reaching influence that Onitsuka Tiger’s Japanese craftsmanship exudes.
Urban Duality is a harmonious combination of times, cultures, and traditions. It fondly examines the past and how it remains beloved alongside more contemporary visions and sensibilities. Onitsuka Tiger itself is a reflection of this: honed Japanese values and tradition that appeal to our modern styles. Their Autumn Winter collection is a homage to the classics, as well as an audacious statement for the present, making each day extraordinary.
