What's old is hot again, and flare jeans are making their comeback in a more flirty style, as Nicole Tham demonstrates in this exclusive photoshoot

Nicole Tham, 24, may have had a wardrobe update with office-appropriate monochromatic pieces ever since she started work as a management consultant at A.T. Kearney, but she hasn't lost her fun side and fascination for vintage.

"I think Eighties fashion is coming back in a new wave," she says as she tinkles the ivories of her family's grand piano. Indeed, one of her favourite fashion items is a pair of flare jeans. In this interview, Tham shows us how she mixes retro with the contemporary and shares more about her style inspiration who just happens to be her mother, Lee Jim Leng.

How Nicole Styles Her Flare Jeans For The Day

How Nicole Styles Her Flare Jeans For The Night

1. My style has toned down since...

"I stepped into the working world. Now, ripped leggings and neon-lit cropped tops are traded in for cigarette trousers and button-up blouses."

2. I don't plan my wardrobe but...

"I do plan my outfits in advance for holidays, as I think it is important to pack items that are both stylish yet functional. It also prevents me from overpacking."

3. My 3 wardrobe essentials are...

"Black trousers, a leather jacket and a pair of ballet flats from Tod's. The shoes are so versatile and functional."

4. I bond with my mum through...

"Fashion and dressing up. Prior to the Melium & Tatler Charity Auction this year, I told my mum I had nothing to wear for the occasion and she immediately laid out her ball gowns and accessories for me to try. We were basically doing a live episode of Fashion Police!"

5. My style motto is...

"Fashion is what you buy, style is what you do with it. Keep in mind that a fad or a trend is short-lived."
