Haute Couture SS 2020: Discover Your Next Red Carpet Looks From Dior, Chanel & Givenchy
The Parisian haute couture week also saw the final show by fashion's enfant terrible, Jean-Paul Gaultier
Recalling Coco Chanel's childhood at the Abbey of Aubazine, designer Virginie Viard reaffirmed the allure of Chanel with gothic achromatic schoolgirl attire. Impeccable buttons and uniform patterns in tweed, and paired with socks and black heeled loafers, evoked youthful innocence/rebellion.

"What if women ruled the world?" Well, they would look like Dior goddesses, wielding their strength and power in shimmering dresses and elegant feathered capes, and accessorised in pearls and gold from Dior Joaillerie. A striking suit in herringbone broke the dressy mould, reimagining a masculine shape with feminine pizzazz.
Givenchy's flair for pairing architectural shapes and bold colours made for a dreamy collection inspired by a garden in spring. It was also designed to be a tribute to Hubert Givenchy, reinterpreting his asymmetrical dresses in vibrant hues of indigo and lavender.
The final couture show by Jean-Paul Gaultier also marked his 50th year in fashion. Naturally, it was a huge burlesque party with no less than 200 looks and celebrity friends such as Paris Jackson and Dita Von Teese walking the runway with the likes of Karlie Kloss, Bella Hadid, Winnie Harlow and Irina Shayk. As for the clothes, he rolled out reinterpretations of his iconic, envelope-pushing designs over the years, from Madonna's conical corset, now in denim, to the sexy sailor ensembles.

Based on its iconic designs in the past decade, the collection is focused on the robustness of draped textiles, ostrich feathers, large bows and sharp silhouettes. There was a sense of perkiness in the pop shades of aqua and soft pink while nude pyjama suit with plunging neckline oozed sensuality. A metallic organza gown with embroidered silk flowers only goes to show that Ralph & Russo is a romantic at heart.
