Essential 3: Frayed jeans

Pre-engagement, Meghan proved to be a fervent smart-casual dresser, opting for button-down shirts and jeans, as seen at the Invictus Games in September 2017. 

What it is: Hand-distressed jeans by Mother

Meghan chose a pair of distressed jeans by Mother, paired her outfit with chic, pointy ballet flats, dressing sensibly for a day on her feet. Now this look, we can pull off.

Essential 4: Sheer (engagement worthy) dress

Where Princess Diana and Kate Middleton stuck to conservative dresses at their engagement photocall, Meghan broke ranks with her choice of a sheer Ralph & Russo couture gown.  

What it is: Ralph & Russo couture

The floor-length dress was embellished with a gold leaf embroidery on top, and a tulle, full skirt. It was a romantic choice and an emboldening depiction of Meghan’s independence from royal formalities. 

Essential 5: Strappy pumps

Meghan’s love for elegance – and a prudent one, at that – goes unnoticed with the pair of heels she stepped out in to announce her engagement to Prince Harry. 

What it is: Aquazzura pointed toe lace-ups

The lace-up Matilde pumps by Aquazzura is loved by Meghan for its pointed toe, slinky strap versatility, which you can get in a similar Jimmy Choo version. So fond she is of the heels she’s recycled twice, that she even owns a pair in black too.
