We travel to Tokyo for Louis Vuitton’s regional press presentation to get a closer look at the fall/winter collection and we can’t get enough of the cool handbags introduced this season.

Nicolas Ghesquière, one of fashion’s biggest names, is hailed as a success story at the House of Louis Vuitton for straddling the brand’s traditional values and his own creative performance contemporising fashion for women. All while chalking up massive commercial success, especially in Asia.

For the fall/winter collection, the womenswear artistic designer was largely inspired by the areas surrounding Centre Pompidou in Paris, which he says is “A fascinating incubator of a neighborhood. An incredible mélange, converging in the epicentre. The cliques, the styles, the life... I love that impression of a sartorial melting pot. Today, I've transposed it at Louis Vuitton: a House of multiple expressions...”

With this, the collection gives a powerful impression of graphic juxtapositions, clashing of cultural references and the multiplicity of expressions that’s synonymous with the much-loved Parisian landmark. There were generous touches of bold patterns, fun colour palette, unexpected silhouettes and versatile fashion items.

Some noteworthy touches include the Monogram LV Pop print, refreshed Damier in neon yellow, iconic Capucines in ultra-modern updates, all-new LV Arch bag, BB Mini Luggage in black and white Damier with pop-coloured accents and exquisite embroidery, which requires better appreciation up close. Since his debut collection with Louis Vuitton in 2014, it does seem like Ghesquière has got the timeless sophistication effect down pat.

Let's also take a moment to appreciate Louis Vuitton's exceptional savoir-faire, from the House's atelier.
