Loro Piana’s dedication to fine materials and crafting come to the fore in its fall/winter collection, which celebrates the 10th anniversary of Loro Piana’s feather-light Baby Cashmere
Loro Piana Focus
Just like fine wines, quality fabrics are the result of careful growing and harvesting techniques, and a deep understanding of the region where they are created. For the past 10 years, Italian luxury brand Loro Piana has employed all these and more to produce the Baby Cashmere from which it crafts downy, ultra-fine clothing. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of this inimitable material, Loro Piana created the Baby Cashmere Jubilee autumn/winter 2018-19 collection.
Baby Cashmere comes from young goats grazing the hostile expanse of Inner Mongolia’s desert, which features dunes as high as 300 metres. Come June, herders are able to harvest about 30 grams of light, soft fibres from the underfleece of the year-old goats. There will be no more of the precious fibres for the herders to harvest until the following year, when a new batch of baby goats will have grown their fleeces.
