In an exclusive interview with Tatler, stylist Liz Uy spills the details on her new clothing brand, BYLZ

Convenience is key, according to Liz Uy. Years of curating looks for the entertainment industry’s most fashionable personalities have cemented her as one of the most sought-after image consultants. Now, she’s ventured even further into the world of fashion with the launching of BYLZ (pronounced ‘by Liz’), a curated wardrobe of elevated essentials. The collection’s first drop features 28 pieces honed, refined and edited through her expertise.

“As a stylist, I’ve spent years curating looks and witnessing trends and how the right piece can elevate confidence,” she shared. “Launching my own label felt like the natural next step... Now, I can share my vision with more people, making style both accessible and exciting.”

Her fashion-forward best is reflected in this thoughtfully assembled collection. In fact, the name BYLZ (which the stylist credits as having been coined by her husband) was taken from ‘Styled by Liz’, a phrase that has defined her career. Tap into BYLZ’s main page on Lazada, where it is exclusively available, and you come across button-downs, long-sleeved blouses, and other business casual mainstays. There are breezy linen dresses labelled ‘day-to-night’, apt for braving the sweltering Manila heat. Other closet staples, like an oversized blazer, are elevated with a sophisticated touch, colour-blocked with a chic black and grey pinstripe pattern.

The collection simplifies dressing without compromising on flair. Pieces are adaptable and functional, specifically crafted to adapt to various looks. Each one serves as a convenient, go-to option for creating polished looks with ease. As Uy shares, “Our core audience includes busy professionals and stylish individuals who appreciate a chic wardrobe that blends seamlessly into their lives.”

The two to three months it took for Uy and her team to put this endeavour together involved working closely with manufacturers to source top-notch materials, placing an emphasis on quality above all else. “The fast-paced world of online fashion made it both exciting and intense,” she reminisces. “There were lots of late nights and detailed planning to make sure BYLZ would resonate and connect with our audience.”

While she doesn’t design the pieces herself, Uy played a crucial part in selecting and coordinating pieces to align with the BYLZ aesthetic. “It’s similar to my work as a stylist—editing and curating to ensure everything fits perfectly.”

As for future plans, Uy shares that there are plans to introduce a men’s line, offering more stylish essentials for a wider demographic. And although a physical boutique may definitely be a possibility, the entrepreneur’s current focus for her brand remains on building a strong online presence. She says, “I love shopping on one-stop online stores for their convenience and efficiency, and I’ve always dreamed of offering a quality selection of clothes in the same way.”
