The second instalment of the K11 Original Masters features K11 founder, Adrian Cheng and head of couture from Dior, Gaia Pace discussing the iconic Lady Dior Bag and the evolution of Chinese art

Last October, K11 founder Adrian Cheng joined hands with Carine Roitfeld, founder of CR Fashion Book to launch K11 Original Masters, a webinar series exploring the significance of century-old artisanship. The series aims to bring together the most creative and influential leaders of the modern artist to showcase and promote these artisanal traditions. In addition to that, it also celebrates iconic fashion houses, designers and creative directors today.

Following its successful first episode with Christelle Kocher, artistic director of Maison Lemarié, Chanel Métier d’art, the second instalment features Gaia Pace, director of haute couture studios and research at Christian Dior. The episode offers an in-depth walk through the decade-old technique by the French house, especially the making of and history behind its iconic Lady Dior bag.

It also includes an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the special edition Cruise Collection 2021 Lady Dior bag, a process previously only available for internal members of the house. Viewers are able to navigate the house's evolution within today's fashion landscape and its aspirations to explore other ventures such as techniques used in traditional Chinese art and the artistry of China's newest creatives.

"Following the incredible response to the launch of K11 Original Masters last fall, I’m delighted to reunite with Carine alongside Dior’s Gaia Pace, two of the most creative visionaries in fashion today," says Cheng. "Carine and I share the same vision of preserving our world’s fast-disappearing savoir-faire, and in bringing together the industry’s greatest minds to speak to the timeless intricacies of their designs, aspire to celebrate the true heart of fashion while showcasing its historical significance as an art form. We hope that these intimate conversations inspire society’s sincerest appreciation for these artisanal techniques, too."

Through K11 and K11 Craft and Guild Foundation which preserves age-old craftsmanship, Cheng aims to spark the younger generation's curiosity and interest in craftmanship through the webinar. Clearly, Carine shares the same vision. "We are able to learn so much about fashion’s history through craftsmanship. As Original Masters celebrates a new wave of creative techniques, we hope to shine a light on the ancient savoir-faires that remain at the core and soul of fashion today," she says.
