To kick off their 20th anniversary celebrations, Shanghai Tang collaborates with the London-based contemporary artist on a stunning new collection
Shanghai Tang is celebrating 20 fabulous years of luxury and fine design, and to celebrate this milestone the brand is kicking off a series of collaborations with creative around the world. First up is a highly covetable capsule collection done in partnership with London-based contemporary artist Jacky Tsai (who we profiled during his Lane Crawford residency this time last year), who will be bringing his energetic, kaleidoscopic aesthetic to Shanghai Tang’s classic Chinese forms.
The collection includes qipao, box clutches, tableware, cashmere shawls and even a skateboard, all of which incorporate elements of Tsai’s original artwork. We are particularly enamoured by the sweetness of the Ginger Flower collection, featuring delicate birds, dragonflies and koi fish on an inky background, and the cheerful and slightly surreal Floral Play as seen in a few gorgeous box clutches and bangles.
The Jacky Tsai x Shanghai Tang collection will debut at the Shanghai Tang Mansion in Central on May 15, at the Shanghai Tang 20th Anniversary kick-off party in conjunction with Art Basel Hong Kong. The collection will then be in stores and online from May 16.
