Stella McCartney's upcoming Shared Spring/Summer 2021 collection is a post-gender capsule, taking a stand and creating space for a rising, progressive generation to freely express themselves. To showcase the conscious urban pieces that blend laidback luxury and utilitarian wearability, the fashion brand taps legendary Japanese artist, Yoshitomo Nara to lend his hand at personifying the need to be connected today using activism, interpreted through resistance and rebelliousness.
Marking the artist's first-ever fashion collaboration, his work will set the collection's tone, youthfully infusing iconic styles with novel twists while aligning with Stella's global tribe around the Old Bond Street (OBS) logo. Stella will channel Nara's way of bridging art, subculture and street culture as well as his fluency in the style of youth in revolt using his signature punk attitude that valorises non-conformity, free thought and individuality.
The upcoming collection includes rare, collectable ready-to-wear pieces and accessories such as graphic coordinated silk sets and organic cotton tops showcasing Nara's iconic illustration of children, complete with rallying phrases like "We are punks", "Change the history" and "Don't waste another day".
