Luxury brands have their own brick and mortar shops, they have apps and social media platforms—what’s next? Several major fashion houses have started turning into the quick-growing, commute-friendly world of Podcasts as a screen-free way of communicating with their audience. From conversations with Karl Lagerfeld to John Galliano, we list some of our favourites below

1. Chanel

Named after Chanel's 2.55 handbags, Chanel's podcast—named 3.55—gives insight into the Maison in just about every way. In the latest chapter of 3.55, entitled Métier Class, there are exclusive talks between Monocle’s Tyler Brûlé with the late Karl Lagerfeld, the house’s president, Bruno Pavlovsky and house ambassador, Pharrell Williams.

Back track into the archives, you will also find ones led by Amanda Harlech interviewing social media sensations, such as Susie Lau and Margaret Zhang on the importance of handbags. Locally, interviews with Wyman Wong, Hilary Tsui and Hypebeast founder Kevin Ma can also be found.

2. Maison Margiela

With only six episodes under its belt, the Maison Margiela podcast, entitled “The Memory Of… with John Galliano” is still worth noting. Featuring monologues by their creative director, John Galliano, discussing inspiration and theatrics of his recent collections for the house, these podcasts are guaranteed to put you into a fashion trance, complete with special audio effects.

Galliano may be press shy in recent years, so to hear him speak first hand about his designs, knowledge of history and the arts is a treat.

5. Chloé

The bilingual (French and English) Chloé podcast celebrates women with “free-spirited femininity”. Described as a space for reflection, the podcast includes interviews from women across various industries, including the house’s creative director, Natacha Ramsay-Levi.

Other muses span several generations, including French actresses Isabelle Huppert and Clémence Poésy to Franco-Morrocan writer Leïla Slimani. What’s also special about these podcasts is where they are recorded—in Paris at Maison de la Radio—which is where Ramsay-Levi has presented her collections for the house.
