Being a dapper gent is no easy task, and attention to detail is always what sets a gentleman apart. The first order of business? Mastering the tie knot. For this edition of Gentlemen's Guide, we're going back to basics with a quick tutorial on the two most popular tie knots.

Above The Half Windsor Knot

The Half Windsor Knot

1) Drape your tie around your neck with the wide end longer than the narrow end.

2) Cross the wide end over the narrow end of the tie.

3) Bring it around from the back and bring it up and over through the "V" opening near your neck.

4) Wrap the wide end across the front and come up through the "V" from the back.

5) Pass the tie through the loop at the front of the tie and pull tight.

Above The Four-In-Hand Knot

The Four-In-Hand Knot

1) Drape your tie around your neck with the wide end longer than the narrow end.

2) Cross the wide end over the narrow end of the tie.

3) Wrap it around the back and across the front.

4) Make the tie come up through the "V" from the back.

5) Pass the tie through the loop at the front of the tie and pull tight.
